Washington, D.C. (September 8, 2022) – GovExec, the market-leading sales and marketing intelligence company for government leaders and contractors, announced today the launch of the new GovExec Leadership Academy powered by Professional Development Academy. This launch is an expansion for GovExec’s professional development tools with the intent to reach and engage federal government leaders. Professional Development Academy, which to date has nearly 10,000 graduates primarily in state and local government, is one of the most well-respected professional development and training platforms for government leaders. Its mission is to “make existing leaders better and emerging leaders ready to address the changes, challenges and complexity of government business.”
The federal government continues to serve as one of the largest employers in the U.S., with over 2.1 million civil servants who annually administer a $4.4 trillion budget that touches the lives of all Americans daily. However, a survey from Deloitte concluded that only 22% of employees feel as though their agency is well prepared to retain top talent. Through a series of real-time webinars, recorded sessions and small group collaborations driven by General Colin Powell’s leadership principles, the new GovExec Leadership Academy offers practitioner-focused guided learning ensuring that front-line figureheads are all prepared to develop sustainable strategies and succeed alongside their impressive community of peers.
Our foray into the Federal government is coming at a pivotal time. Things are moving faster than ever before across industries and the workforce continues to widen; while that strong, positive leadership is extremely important, especially among the agencies that help to set the standards,” said Dr. Tim Rahschulte, CEO of Professional Development Academy. “By engaging government professionals, we can help them learn how to best prepare and adapt their approach to meet current and future demands. For instance, there is a real need to strengthen the soft skills that allow them to effectively oversee multi-generational teams to innovate solutions faster, leverage data for decision making, and balance competing priorities with higher levels of workforce engagement. This, in turn, helps them to continue building stronger districts, counties, states and, ultimately, a stronger country.”
Participants in the 12-week high performance leadership program will have the opportunity to focus on five essential skills of modern leadership, including how to apply the four strategies of positive leadership, organize competing priorities in times of great change, collaborate among a diverse set of stakeholders, communicate effectively using a wide array of media, and deliver consistently on the mission of the agency.
Lessons learned are shared not only in video form from General Powell, but also from nearly 200 executives from Fortune 1000 companies, public sector leaders, world renowned academics, and subject matter experts., including how to lead, organize, collaborate, deliver and communicate that all stem from insight contributed by Fortune 1000 executives, public sector leaders, world-renowned academics and thought leaders. Each track dives into the key practices that will ultimately boost organizational goals and outcomes. From lessons on engaging investors and building strong partnerships to properly measuring projects and speaking with clarity, the content and conversations are created to meet government professionals where they are at, enhance their capabilities to take on today’s unique challenges and do so in a time and cost effective manner, which has earned the program a 96% approval rating among users for “quality and value of course material.”
