GovExec Announces Daniel Vock as New Senior Reporter for Route Fifty

Dec. 6, 2021

Washington, D.C. (December 6, 2021) — As the leading information services and insights company for government leaders and contractors, GovExec announces a new appointment for its editorial team.  A key part of the company’s efforts are its award-winning content platforms that provide key insights for the federal, state and local, and defense sectors. Daniel Vock has been appointed as Senior Reporter for Route Fifty. It was announced today by Constance Sayers, president of GovExec. Vock takes on this position at a time of record growth for the company, with multiple new acquisitions under the GovExec name.

“Dan’s journalistic perspective of the national, state and local levels of government will help to give us edge in terms of our reporting going forward,” said Constance Sayers, president of GovExec. “I’m so excited to see how he brings his editorial knowledge to our federal and state and local content platform Route Fifty."

Vock, in his role at Route Fifty, will report to Managing Editor Jean Dimeo. He'll be leading infrastructure and transportation coverage for Route Fifty, which covers state and local government across the United States. He will highlight trends, spot emerging issues and explore best practices around the country. As part of his infrastructure coverage, Dan will continue to write Route Fifty’s new Infrastructure Update newsletter, which launched last month. He will also cover state legislatures and politics.

Route Fifty is committed to strong journalism, and its leaders know that robust coverage of state and local government is absolutely critical in a time like this," Vock said. "I am excited to join the team, especially now that the beat I've covered for more than a decade —infrastructure— is a top concern for public officials and readers."

Vock joins Route Fifty after two years of freelance work focused on public policy. During that time, he had stories published with Route Fifty and many other news outlets, including Politico, MotherJones, Bloomberg Businessweek, Crain’s Chicago Business, States Newsroom, the Center for Illinois Politics and WIRED Transportation. In addition to his reporting, he has worked on the launch of newsletters for Route Fifty and Crain’s Chicago Business, along with a subscriber-supported newsletter called "States of Crisis." Dan has worked as a staff writer at Governing magazine and Stateline. He started his career as an Illinois statehouse reporter.
