Nominations for the 2027 Federal 100 Awards, powered by GovExec, are now open

Winners will be honored at GovExec’s Evening of Honors gala on April 28, 2027

Nov. 2, 2026

Washington, DC (November 2, 2026): GovExec, the market-leading sales and marketing intelligence company for government leaders and contractors, today opened its call for nominations for the 2027 Federal 100 Awards. Each year, the awards recognize the IT and technology professionals who go above and beyond their assigned duties to move the federal government forward. Nominations are open to individuals at all levels and will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 31, 2026.

The Federal 100 are the original and most prestigious awards in federal IT, and they continue GovExec’s more than 50-year tradition of covering government as it evolves, stumbles and achieves. Anyone in the federal IT community is eligible. Past winners include agency employees, members of the federal contracting sector, academics, independent watchdogs and members of Congress. The 2027 awards honor specific accomplishments from the 2026 calendar year, not lifetime achievement, and anyone can submit a nomination.

“This year asked federal technology leaders to deliver more for the public while their agencies, workforces and tools were changing around them,” said Jessie Bur, executive editor of Nextgov/FCW. “The Federal 100 is our chance to spotlight the individuals who rose to that moment, and it starts with the community telling us who they are.”

Nominations must be submitted through the online form, which has no option to save a draft, so nominators should prepare their submission in advance. Each nomination can include up to five supporting nominators and centers on three short questions about the nominee’s role, their impact in 2026, and the background that enabled them to make a difference. Nominations submitted early get no advantage over those submitted near the deadline, but late submissions will not be accepted.

An independent panel of judges selected by GovExec will meet in mid-to-late January 2027 to choose the winners, who will be announced in early-to-mid February 2027. GovExec will celebrate the honorees in person at its Evening of Honors on April 28, 2027, which recognizes current and former government officials and industry stakeholders who have made historic achievements across government.
